Proform 650 Elliptical Machine

The Proform 650 Elliptical Trainer is a lower-end, no-frills version of the Pro Form 700. While the Proform 650 does have the handle bar heart monitors, there are only four work-out programs. If you thought the Proform 700 was low end, creaky work out machine, you might want to stay away from the Proform 650. Most users will advise you not to buy this elliptical, but it does have its place in the low-end market thanks to its budget price. While they claim to have improved the 650 with SMR or silent magnetic resistance technology and quieter wheels, the machine frame still creaks a bit with the slightest amount of weight stress. The Proform 650 has a 23” width 62” length and a 54” height. Even the step-up Pro Form 700 Elliptical Model is  smaller then most elliptical machines, so don't expect the Proform 650 to be any better.

At prices ranging from $200 to $300, you will quickly know why it so affordable the minute you step on to ride one. Most Proform elliptical trainers have no mechanical parts in the rear wheel. Instead, these machines have a series of magnetic parts to achieve different resistance levels. While other Elliptical Machines usually come with multiple resistance levels, the Proform 650 only has one setting. There is a silver lining to such a low-priced, economical unit:  The Proform 650 actually offers an LCD screen that tells you your heart beat, calories burned and which of the four workout programs you are using.  One other big plus to such a low-priced unit: Portability. The Pro Form 650 is built on a space saving design that can be collapsed and stored away if needed. Now with the smaller frame it does have a chance of tilting over if not standing properly or if children are playing on or around it. Like most Proform Elliptical Machines, the 650 does not come preassembled. Some users have complained that these Elliptical Trainers are difficult to assemble. Over all, I would say go for the Pro Form 650 only if you are on a very tight budget and live in tight quarters. Otherwise, save up a few more of your hard-earned dollars and move up to one of the higher priced machines with more durable frame and construction.
